Chronicles of the Dragon Cave from A to Z: "I" is for Imagination

NOTE: Thank you for your visit and your comments. Today I'm guest at A thought that Grows with Julie Luek. We would love to see you there!
****
"Is it recording?" Tassin asks, looking at the camera and smoothing his jacket.
"Yes. You may start." Carmelita assured him, trying to keep the camera still.
Tassin straightened, frowned and looked around. "Where is Milin anyway? He should be in charge of taping the documentaries for the challenge."
"Start already!" Her voice and personality always reminded me of the sweetness of Attila, the Hun.
My task master recoiled but obeyed. "Imagination, the essential magic that allows the existence of a fire dragon in the modern age. Imagination is the key that keeps the portal open between the Dragon Cave and the real world. Imagination is, above all, the currency we demand in exchange for this tour.
Carl Sagan said, 'Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were but without it, we go nowhere.' Albert Einstein said, 'Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.' But our favorite is Mother Dragon's, of course, 'The fact that something lives only in your imagination doesn't mean it doesn't exist.'"
Carmelita smiled and nodded with conviction. Yes, we are proud of that one.
Tassin's white mustache slided to reveal a grin. "So dear visitor, for a richer experience please set your imagination free. I am going to tell you two stories of the Cave that are related to two unique statues in the Main Chamber. These are the Knight of the Gallant Order of the Invincible Fist and the Lady of End-"
A quivering made both Tassin and Carmelita tumble.
"Run! Run for cover!"

  9. Guess we have to wait to find out. By the way, Father Dragon, did you know that at Epcott (in Florida) there was a tiny pink dragon called Imagination. Don't know if he is still there, but when I saw him, he impressed me very much.

  16. I love the concept of imagination in writing and know its essential and so often distrust mine. I think its the fodder from which artists feed. Good stuff, Al, as always.

  19. So very true...just because something is always in you imagination doesn't make it any less real. Imagination is, usually, where reality comes from :)

  20. I never read that Sagan quote before but I just love it. One to add to my list of favorites, I love collecting quotes. :)
