Celebrate the Small Things despite the Fat Lady won't Sing

If my week were a circus, I could summarize it by saying the dwarves grew tall, the hairy woman went bald, the fat lady lost her voice, clowns got depression and animals escaped in stampede. And yet, Father Dragon is loyal to VikLit's meme and here I am celebrating the small things.

1. Still no Internet of our own BUT there is a weak free signal that appears and disappears. I am sure the Ancestors send it when my levels of frustration and rage increase too much after nearly a month of intermittent service.

2. Without Internet I've tried to keep my Zen in place by keeping myself busy. My dragon sculpture got wings, mane and face features. Although on Wednesday its mane reminded me of a mix between Alex, the Lion (Madagascar) and Harlem Globetrotter "Wildkat", I am happy to say now it looks just like me; totally debonair. So much that I've decided I'm going for my "cover reveal" during the A to Z challenge. On April 6th I'll reveal myself (well, the sculpture of myself) in all my glorious dragonness. (Crossing claws now to get done by then.)

3. Right now, I have challenge posts done up to "G". (Go me!) Meanwhile, dwarves visited a few sites from the A to Z list for the little time we had signal. (They are practicing on their second minion job.)

4. I am reading Save the Cat. It's an achievement in itself that I lay my eyes on it. I know many of you sing hymns to this book but for some unknown reason, I was reluctant to read it. I'm reading it because it kept getting in my way. Last time, the High Powers practically dropped it on my head so I interpreted that as a signal. I am still grumbling about the task but I'll read it and at least find out if my feelings against it were founded or not.

5. I got another couple chapters of critic done.

6. Last Friday I won a book at David Powers King's site. It's on its way to Mexico now. It will take about three or four weeks, but the way I'm practicing patience with Internet, I'll attain Nirvana state by the time the book arrives. Either that or I'll have gnawed my own leg.

7. Although I was already honored with the Liebster and the Very Inspiring Blogger award, I want to thank Jolie du Pre from Precious Monsters and Melissa Maygrove for thinking on me.

I'll take the chance to answer here Jolie's questions because they are fun and because this post has already taken me two days with the flickering signal.

1. What is the top item on your bucket list?
See the whole world.

2. What do some people do that bugs you the most?
Disrespect just as much as cruelty to animals.

3. What do some people do that you love the most?
Compassion.

4. If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Being so impulsive and passionate.

5. Do you believe in Astrology?
To my convenience.

6. Do you believe in monsters?
Of course! I've met very ugly humans.

7. Who is your favorite male celebrity?
Hrithik Roshan, Robert Downey Jr.

8. Who is your favorite female celebrity?
Liv Taylor, Jennifer Gardner, Emma Watson

9. Are you doing your dream job?
I could say yes, except for one little tiny detail.

10. What do you want people to say about you when you die?
Hope he doesn't get up. Seriously now, I would like them to say it was nice to share part of their life journey with me.

11. Do you want to live forever?
Except in my legacy and the memory of those who knew me, Higher Powers forbid it! Even dragons must go one day.

I've been slow with news, with comments and with visits. I am sorry. The internet gods are amusing themselves tormenting me. Yet, I've managed to create the Cave's Notice Board where I included some of the bloghops, launching parties and activities for this month (as far as I know). Everything in one single look. My plan is keep it updated. I hope it works better than the three agendas and multiple notes I never see. If I am missing something, drop me a note. :) I wanted to participate in the Back to the Future Bloghop but it was impossible to sign up (pondering now on celebrating a deeper connection by eating the modem).

Anyway, I would love to hear what you're celebrating. Have a great weekend!

  1. Congrats on the book! And getting those chapters done! And on getting to 'g' (eee...I haven't started yet). Enjoy the time w/o internet. Sounds stupid maybe, but it's amazing how much suddenly gets done ;)

    1. Yes, I shouldn't be so grumpy about it. By the way, I don't have a book to reveal. By cover I meant my look, hahaha.

    1. It helps that I deliberately seek to keep my mind busy as not to think on what worries me. :)

  4. You've done well with little to no Internet! Glad you've been able to visit some of the other Challenge participants.
Save the Cat is a great book. Dig the fifteen beats.
Congratulations on winning the book from David.
And who really wants to live forever? (Wow, I just quoted a movie - imagine that!)

  5. I'm sorry about your internet. I had mine go out on me for a week once and it about did me in! Thank goodness for the library in town and our small coffee shops with free wifi! I don't know how you're doing it.

I'm so excited to see your sculpture reveal. I love art, Al. I grew up surrounded by art and artists and have nary a gene or hint of it in my system. I admire the talent and inspiration!

  6. Limited to no Internet and still sane? Wow! That's good, Al! That's really good!

Sounds like you've had a banner week...fixing up your dragon sculpture, reading books that fall on your head, keeping your cool when things drive you crazy...

Here's wishing you a fabulous weekend too! And Internet on demand, the way it's supposed to be:)

  8. Ugh Al...that stinks...the no Internet thing. It's amazing (at least to me, someone who grew up without) how much it's a part of our lives now.

Whatever did we do before? :)

Anywho, thanks for dropping comments over at my blog given your limited connection and I hope it gets straightened out soon.

Looking forward to seeing your sculpture, too.

    Best of luck!

    1. You know, that's the very same question I have been asking myself. What was life before the internet? I think world was smaller. I, for one, would still using smoke signals to communicate with my friends. Too bad you don't know how to read the dragon mx9000 code.

  9. Sorry to hear about the crappy week. But focusing on those little things can really help.

You won a book, woo hoo. And your up to "G" already? Geez, I haven't even picked a dang theme. You are way ahead of the game- keep that dragon chin up. :)

    1. :) Thank you jaybird. I know. Write five of your favorite things on papers. Get them in a bag, close your eyes and pick one. That's the fastest way to get a theme. I did it. :)

Glad you survived the week, and were able to write and read. :-)
Hope you have a better week next week!

  20. Sorry you couldn't make the Futuere bloghop but you got your meme up and that's the important thing. Love the list. I chuckled at #10. Hee hee. I wish I could say I loved my job--I love it when I'm not working. That's as good as it gets. Actually my job gave me the opportunity to work in Monterrey, MX for a couple weeks a few years ago and it was wonderful. I very much enjoyed it, so there are some perks.

Congrats on your awards and book on the way! Yay!

  21. Ahh, I thought your internet woes were over. So sorry to hear they've reappeared. And although you may be having trials going on (per your opening in this post), it's great to see you have a sense of humor about it all.

I love the extra tidbits of info I was able to gleam about you from those questions. But what I JUST CAN'T understand is why would you want to have less passion!? Or do you maybe mean something like hypervigilance? If so, then that statement is forgiven.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, passion is good for some things but not so good for others. As in when passion makes you stubborn, or blinds you to the truth of facts. Passion can turn you into a fanatic, or turn you intolerant or narrow minded. Nothing of that is good. So passion, like everything else, should be balanced. :)

#4 I agree, I'm too impulsive too, but passion, never a bad thing!

Save the Cat sounds like something I should invest in.

    Have a great weekend!
